Rosewood Heights is a small community in Madison County, Illinois, United States. It is a "census-designated place" (CDP), which means it's a special area defined by the U.S. Census Bureau for collecting population data. In 2020, about 3,971 people lived there. Rosewood Heights is part of a larger area called the Metro East region, which is near the big city of St. Louis.

Where is Rosewood Heights?
Rosewood Heights is located in the northwestern part of Madison County. It has several towns nearby. To the east, you'll find Bethalto. To the south is Wood River. On its western side is East Alton, and to the north is Cottage Hills.
Roads and Travel
Two main roads, Illinois Route 111 and Illinois Route 140, run along the northern edge of Rosewood Heights. Illinois Route 140 goes west about 6 miles to Alton. It also goes east through Bethalto for about 12 miles to Hamel.
Illinois Route 111 heads northwest about 9 miles to Godfrey. It also goes south about 4 miles to the center of Wood River. Another important road, Illinois Route 255, is a four-lane highway that runs along the eastern side of Rosewood Heights. You can get onto it from Exit 10, which connects to Illinois Routes 111 and 140. This highway can take you south about 10 miles to other major interstates, or northwest about 9 miles to Godfrey. Downtown St. Louis is about 27 miles southwest of Rosewood Heights.
Land and Water
The community covers about 1.7 square miles of land. Only a very small part, about 0.18%, is water. The water in Rosewood Heights flows northwest into the East Fork of the Wood River. This river then joins the mighty Mississippi River near East Alton.
