Roslyn Brock continued her education and earned three master's degrees. Her first master's degree was in healthcare administration from George Washington University in 1989. Later, in 1999, she earned a master's degree in business from Northwestern University. In 2009, she received her third master's degree in divinity from Virginia Union University.

Her Career and Work

Before her leadership roles, Roslyn Brock worked in healthcare for ten years. She was at the W. K. Kellogg Foundation in Battle Creek, Michigan. She also served as a vice-president for Bon Secours Health System in Marriottsville, Maryland.

Her Work with the NAACP

Roslyn Brock joined the NAACP in 1984 when she was a college freshman. The NAACP is an organization that works for the rights of African Americans. The next year, she became a Youth Board Member.

In 1989, she wrote her master's paper about creating a health program for minorities through the NAACP. Starting in 1991, she helped organize health discussions at the NAACP's yearly meetings. She also served as the Vice Chairman of the NAACP Health Committee. In 1999, she was chosen to lead the committee that plans the annual convention.

In February 2001, when she was 35, she was chosen to be the Vice Chairman of the NAACP National Board of Directors. She was the youngest person and the first woman to hold this position.

Julian Bond was the NAACP Chairman from 1998 until 2009. Roslyn Brock was chosen to take his place on February 20, 2010. She was 44 years old at the time. She is the youngest person ever to be the NAACP Chairman.
