Rosport (which is called Rouspert in Luxembourgish) was once a special type of local area or town in the country of Luxembourg. It was located in a part of Luxembourg known as the canton of Echternach.
What is a Commune?
In Luxembourg, a commune is like a local government area or a municipality. It is a way to organize towns and villages so they can manage their own local services. This includes things like schools, roads, and local events. Each commune has its own local council and mayor.
Where Was Rosport Located?
Rosport was found in the eastern part of Luxembourg. It was part of the canton of Echternach. A canton is a bit like a larger district or region within a country. It helps to group several communes together. The Echternach canton is known for its beautiful nature and the historic town of Echternach.
Becoming Rosport-Mompach
On 1 January 2018, something big happened for Rosport. It joined together with another nearby commune called Mompach. When two communes join, it is called a merger. This merger created a brand new, larger commune. The new commune was given a new name: Rosport-Mompach. This means that Rosport, as a separate commune, no longer exists. Instead, it is now part of the bigger Rosport-Mompach area.
