Ross is a small, unincorporated community located in Lake County, Indiana. An unincorporated community means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. It's part of Calumet Township.
History
The community of Ross was named after William Ross. He was one of the first people, known as a pioneer settler, to make his home in this area.
A post office was opened in Ross in 1857. This was a place where people could send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years. However, it eventually closed down in 1914.
