Olurotimi Akinosho (; born November 30, 1988), known as Rotimi, is an actor and singer from Nigeria and America. He is famous for playing Darius Morrison in the TV show Boss. He also played Andre Coleman in Power and Charles in The Chi. On June 29, 2024, he shared that he would be a full-time cast member in season 7 of The Chi.

Early Life and School

Rotimi was born in Maplewood, New Jersey. His parents are from Nigeria. His father was a banker from the Yoruba group. His mother was from the Igbo group and worked for the government.

He went to Columbia High School. There, he played on the basketball team and sang in the choir. Rotimi then studied at Northwestern University. He earned a degree in Communication and also studied Business in 2010.

Acting Roles

Rotimi has appeared in several TV shows and movies. He was in three episodes of ABC's Betrayal.

His first movie was Black Nativity in 2013. After that, he starred in Imperial Dreams. This movie was shown at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and won an award.

Rotimi also acted in the popular movie Divergent (2014). In 2016, he was in the movie Deuces with Lance Gross.

He joined the TV series Power as a regular actor. He played Andre Coleman, a young character who sometimes got angry. Rotimi also had a role in Battle Creek as Danny.

Music Journey

Rotimi is an contemporary R&B artist. He released two digital music collections called The Resume (2011) and While You Wait (2011). His music videos have been shown on TV channels like MTV and VH1 Soul.

He has performed on stage before famous artists like Jennifer Hudson and T.I.. He also performed on BET's show 106 and Park. Rotimi appeared in Keyshia Cole's music video "Trust and Believe".

In 2015, the rapper 50 Cent signed Rotimi to his music label, G-Unit Records. Rotimi then released his first song with G-Unit, "Lotto," which featured 50 Cent.

In 2016, Rotimi released "Doin it." This song was from his project called Summer Bangerz. In 2017, he released his first EP (a short album) called Jeep Music Vol. 1.

In 2019, his song "Love Riddim" became very popular.

Rotimi was the main model for rapper T.I.'s AKOO Clothing line in 2012. He was the face of their Spring/Summer collection.

Rotimi's Family Life

On November 25, 2019, Rotimi shared a picture with Tanzanian singer Vanessa Mdee. Vanessa also posted the same picture, confirming their relationship. Rotimi shared that they met at a party and got along very well. Vanessa said she knew he was her future husband just two days after meeting him.

In a video, Rotimi and Vanessa showed that they both have tattoos of each other's names. Vanessa has his name, Rotimi, on her chest. He has her middle name, Hau, on his right wrist. They also have matching tattoos of the number 1045 on their wrists.

In December 2020, Rotimi and Vanessa got engaged.

They welcomed their first child, a boy named Seven Adeoluwa Akinosho, in September 2021. In March 2023, Rotimi announced that their second child, a girl named Imani Enioluwa Akinosho, had arrived.
