Round Hill is a small place in Frederick County, Virginia, United States. It is called an unincorporated community. This means it is a group of homes and businesses that are not officially a town or city with its own local government.
Round Hill is located west of Winchester. You can find it along the Northwestern Turnpike, which is also known as U.S. Route 50.
What's in a Name?
This area is often called Round Hill because of a nearby hill with the same name. That hill is about 1,381 feet tall. However, this can sometimes be confusing! There is another official town called Round Hill not too far away in Loudoun County.
Throughout its history, this Round Hill has also been known by another name: Chambersville. You can find it specifically on Round Hill Road (SR 803), just off U.S. Route 50 at Poorhouse Road (SR 654).
Historical Landmark
An important historical site in the area is the Frederick County Poor Farm. This old farm was officially added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. This means it is recognized as a place important to the history of the United States.
