The History of Round Valley
Round Valley has a rich history, especially related to ranching. It was once home to the famous Gibson Ranch.
The Gibson Ranch Story
In 1881, a man named Joseph Gibson moved to the area. He started a ranch there, which became known as the Gibson Ranch. Joseph was a busy person. He worked as a freighter, carrying goods for others. He also delivered mail and, of course, managed his ranch. He helped set up mail service to a place called Gisela. He was the first person to deliver mail to that area.
In 1892, Joseph Gibson passed away. His wife, Ruth, continued to live there for some time. In 1904, she sold the ranch to Bill and Harvey Colcord. Later, Joseph's son, Wash Gibson, bought the ranch back. Even later, Wash's son, Randall Gibson, owned the ranch. Randall used a special brand for his cattle, called U Lazy Y.
