Rover, Missouri facts for kids
Rover is a small, unincorporated community located in the western part of Oregon County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. It's about eleven miles west of the town of Alton. You can find Rover near Missouri Route M, just a short distance south of U.S. Route 160.
The Story of Rover's Name
The community of Rover has an interesting story behind its name! A post office was first opened here in the year 1900. It stayed in operation, helping people send and receive mail, until 1945. The name "Rover" was chosen to honor the dog of an early postmaster who worked in the area.
