Roy Hinson (born May 2, 1961) is a retired American professional basketball player. He was chosen by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 1983 NBA draft. He was the 20th player picked overall.
Roy went to Franklin High School in Franklin Township, New Jersey. After high school, he played college basketball at Rutgers University. Rutgers is located in nearby New Brunswick.
Roy Hinson was a tall player, standing 6 feet 9 inches. He played as a power forward and center. He played in the NBA for eight seasons, from 1983 to 1991. He played for the Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers, and New Jersey Nets.
Roy Hinson's NBA Career
Roy Hinson had his best year in professional basketball during the 1985–86 season. He was playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers at that time. He played in all 82 games that season. He averaged 19.6 points per game, which was a great achievement.
Slam Dunk Contest
In 1986, Roy Hinson also took part in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. This is a fun competition where players show off their amazing dunking skills. He finished seventh out of eight contestants in the contest.

Moving to New Teams
