Protecting Bhutan's Borders
The Royal Bhutan Army works hard to keep Bhutan safe from any dangers. They make sure the country's land and people are protected. This helps Bhutan stay peaceful and independent.
Sometimes, the army also helps the Royal Bhutan Police. They work together to keep law and order inside the country. This means they can help if there are big problems or emergencies.
The Royal Body Guards
A very special part of the RBA is the Royal Bodyguard of Bhutan (RBG). These are highly trained soldiers. Their main job is to protect the King, the Royal Family, and other important officials. They are an elite group, meaning they are among the best soldiers.
Joining the Army
In Bhutan, it used to be common for one son from each family to join the army. This was a tradition, but it wasn't a rule everyone had to follow. Today, joining the RBA is voluntary, meaning people choose to join.
If there's a big emergency, like a natural disaster or a serious threat, extra people can be asked to join a group called the militia. These are ordinary citizens who help the army when needed.
