The Royal Hobart Hospital is a big public hospital in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. A public hospital means it's run by the government and provides healthcare to everyone. It's also a teaching hospital, which means it helps train new doctors and nurses with the University of Tasmania.
This hospital is the largest in Tasmania. It helps people from all over southern Tasmania. It has space for about 400 patients. The Royal Hobart Hospital offers many special services for the whole state. These include heart and brain surgery, care for serious injuries, and special care for newborn babies. It also helps people with burns and offers hyperbaric medicine, which uses high-pressure oxygen to treat certain conditions.

Hospital History
The Royal Hobart Hospital is one of Australia's oldest hospitals. It started helping people in 1804. This makes it the longest-running public place in Tasmania. In 1820, it moved to its current spot on Liverpool Street. It was first called Hobart General Hospital. In 1938, it became the Royal Hobart Hospital. It even got its own special symbol, called a coat of arms.

In 1992, the Repatriation General Hospital in Hobart joined the public hospital system. It works with the Royal Hobart Hospital. This hospital helps people recover and offers care for older patients.
Later, in 1999, a part of the Royal Hobart Hospital became the Hobart Private Hospital. This is a separate hospital that is not run by the government.

- Sir Dr. James Willson Agnew (1815-1901) was a doctor at the hospital starting in 1845. He later became the Premier of Tasmania, which is like the leader of the state government.
- Dr. Bruce Maitland Carruthers (1892-1951) was a senior surgeon at the hospital from 1927 to 1935. He later became a top health official in Tasmania.
- Dr. William Lodewyk Crowther (1817-1885) became a medical officer at the hospital in 1860. He later served as the Premier of Tasmania.
