Rubén Juárez (born November 5, 1947 – died May 31, 2010) was a famous Argentine musician. He was a talented bandoneonist and singer. He wrote many of his own songs. Rubén Juárez was especially known for his work in tango music.
Early Life and Music Start
Rubén Juárez was born in Ballesteros, a town in the Córdoba Province of Argentina. This was on November 5, 1947. He grew up in Avellaneda, which is south of Greater Buenos Aires.
Rubén started learning to play the bandoneón when he was just six years old. The bandoneón is a special instrument often used in tango music. In 1956, he joined the Youth Orchestra of Club Atlético Independiente. This helped him practice and play with other young musicians.
As he got older, Rubén also learned to play the guitar. He even played in different rock bands during his teenage years. This showed how much he loved all kinds of music.
His Music Career
Later, Rubén Juárez met a guitarist named Héctor Arbello. They both played with the famous singer Julio Sosa. After that, Rubén and Héctor formed their own music duo. They traveled all over Argentina, performing for many people.
A very important moment for Rubén was meeting Aníbal Troilo. Troilo was a legendary bandoneonist. Rubén asked Troilo to be his "artistic godfather." This meant Troilo would guide him in his music career.
On June 2, 1969, Rubén Juárez recorded his first song. It was called Para vos, canilla and it was a big hit right away. About a year later, he was invited to sing on a popular TV show. It was called Sábados Circulares and was hosted by Nicolás Mancera.
From then on, Rubén performed in Argentina and in other countries. He recorded many songs with other great artists. Some of these included Armando Pontier, Charly García, Pedro Aznar, and Leopoldo Federico. He also worked with Raúl Garello, Litto Nebbia, Roberto Grela, and José Colángelo. In his later years, he often worked with the talented musician Raúl Luzzi.
Later Years and Passing
In 2002, Rubén Juárez moved with his family. They went to live in Villa Carlos Paz. This town is about 35 kilometers from the city of Córdoba.
In 2008, Rubén was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He received treatment for his illness. Sadly, in April 2010, the cancer had spread.
Rubén Juárez passed away on May 31, 2010. He died from prostate cancer in a hospital in Buenos Aires. He was a beloved musician who left behind a wonderful legacy of tango music.
