Playing Career Highlights
Olivera started his football journey with Danubio in 2001. After playing well there, he was signed by Juventus in 2002. He made his first appearance in Italy's top league, Serie A, on April 19, 2003. Juventus won the league title that season.
Moving to Other Clubs
In 2004, Olivera was loaned to Atlético Madrid in Spain for a short time. He then returned to Juventus. Later, in 2007, while playing for Sampdoria on loan, he faced a suspension due to an incident during a match.
After his time with Sampdoria, Olivera returned to Juventus in 2007. However, he was loaned out again in 2008 to Peñarol in Uruguay. In the same year, he signed a permanent contract with Genoa in Italy. For the 2009–10 season, he went back to Uruguay on loan with Peñarol. On July 1, 2010, he returned to Italy and signed a three-year contract with Lecce.
Later Career in Italy and Ecuador
In 2012, Olivera joined Fiorentina and played there for about a year and a half. On January 30, 2014, he moved to Brescia, a team in Italy's second league, Serie B.
In January 2015, he joined Latina. He played a few games and scored a goal before an injury ended his season in April 2015. In the 2015–16 season, he scored five goals in 33 games for Latina in Serie B. Olivera then moved to Liga de Quito in Ecuador on January 1, 2017.
However, he returned to Latina in Italy in September 2017, when they were playing in Serie D. In February 2018, he also took on the role of technical director for Latina. He left Latina in the summer of 2018 and mentioned that his playing career was over. But his former teammate, Daniele Corvia, convinced him to join Aprilia Racing on July 16, 2018.
In December 2019, Olivera, at 36 years old, joined Ostiamare. He moved back to Aprilia in June 2020. He officially announced his retirement from playing in May 2021 after being diagnosed with a heart condition.
