Playing in Italy and Spain

In 2002, Rubén was signed by the famous Italian club Juventus. He made his first appearance in Italy's top league, Serie A, on April 19, 2003. Juventus won that game against A.S. Roma 2-1. That season, Juventus won the Serie A title.

In 2004, he went on loan to Atlético Madrid in Spain for a short time. After returning to Juventus, he didn't play as much. He then had a loan spell with Sampdoria in 2007.
