Ruben Josefson (born August 25, 1907 – died March 19, 1972) was an important leader in the Church of Sweden. He served as an Archbishop, which is a very high position in the church.

Early Life and Education
Ruben Josefson was born in a town called Svenljunga in Sweden. He was a very good student. In 1926, when he was 19 years old, he started studying at Uppsala University. This is one of the oldest and most famous universities in Sweden.
Becoming a Theologian
Ruben Josefson studied theology at the university. Theology is the study of religious faith and practice. He worked very hard and earned several degrees. He became a graduate of theology in 1931. Later, he earned his doctor of theology degree in 1937. This showed he was an expert in his field.
Church Career and Leadership
Ruben Josefson dedicated his life to the church. He took on many important roles.
Becoming a Priest
In 1940, Ruben Josefson became a priest. This meant he could lead church services and help people in his community. It was the first step in his long church career.
Bishop of Härnösand
After serving as a priest, Ruben Josefson was chosen for a bigger role. In 1958, he became the Bishop of the Diocese of Härnösand. A bishop is a senior leader in the church who oversees a specific region, called a diocese. He worked as a bishop for nine years, helping guide the church in that area.
Archbishop of Uppsala
In 1967, Ruben Josefson was given the highest position in the Church of Sweden. He was appointed Archbishop of Uppsala. The Archbishop of Uppsala is the main leader of the entire Church of Sweden. They are sometimes called the "Primate of Sweden." He served in this important role until he passed away in 1972.
