Rubio is a town located in the Andes mountains of Venezuela. It's in the Táchira state. Gervasio Rubio founded the town in 1794. Rubio is the main town of the Junín Municipality. In 2001, about 68,869 people lived there.
Rubio is a big town in Táchira. It's important because it grows a lot of coffee. It also has a lot of trade with nearby Colombia. A former president of Venezuela, Carlos Andrés Pérez, was born in Rubio.
The town has beautiful natural tunnels called La Cueva de los Milagros. There are also rivers and waterfalls outside the town. Rubio has many bridges, especially in the older parts. This is why it's called "Ciudad Pontalida," which means "City of Bridges." Rubio is in the western part of Táchira state. It's about a 40-minute drive from San Cristóbal, which is the capital of Táchira.

History of Rubio
Rubio was founded by Gervasio Rubio in 1794. For a time, it was the capital of the Táchira State. Later, the capital moved to San Cristóbal. Rubio is often called "La Ciudad Pontalida" because of its many bridges.
