Rumaldo Antón Barbero de Diego (born February 3, 1971) is a talented Spanish comic book artist and musician. He is better known as Ruma Barbero. He was born in Somió, a town near Gijón, Spain.
From 1990 to 1995, Ruma studied Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca. He focused on sculpture during his studies.

Ruma Barbero has had an exciting career in both music and art. He has created many interesting projects.
Starting in Music
In 1991, Ruma Barbero helped start a music band called Felpeyu. He formed the band with his friend Ígor Medio. They were both studying Fine Arts in Salamanca at the time. Ruma played the percussion instruments in the band. He also worked with another music group called Los Ciquitrinos.
Creating Comics and Art
In 1996, Ruma co-founded a publishing company called Cactus Comics. This company published some of the best comics from Asturias back then. Some of their famous comics included "Little Memo" and "Los Aguarones".
Ruma also drew a comic strip for the newspaper Les Noticies. It was called "Marcianaes" and showed his unique view of Asturian life. He also worked with other newspapers and magazines. He even published the first known photo-novel in the Asturian language.
Designing and Teaching
Ruma Barbero also worked as a high school teacher between 1996 and 1998. He won some regional comic awards, like "El Llapiceru," with his friend Xosé Antón García-Sampedro.
As a graphic designer, Ruma created many album covers for music bands. These included covers for Felpeyu, La Bandina, and Blima. He also designed posters for plays and music festivals.
Winning Awards for His Work
In 2009, Ruma Barbero won the Alfonso Iglesias Comic Prize. He received it for his graphic novel called "Manzajú". This book was about his own life.
He also created a special Comic-CD for Los Ciquitrinos in 2009. It was called "Faciendo l'indio". Since 2011, he has published a digital magazine called Aguantando Cachones. It features new and old artwork.
In 2012, Ruma published another graphic novel, "La Chelita. El Salvador 1992". This book was based on stories from people who helped others during a conflict in El Salvador. It won the award for best book in Asturian in 2012. The next year, he published a book that collected comics from his blog.
Ruma also wrote song lyrics for many bands. These included Felpeyu, Los Ciquitrinos, and Tejedor.

- Comarca de la Sidra Prize of Comic in Asturian (for Marcianaes, 2003).
