Runhild Gammelsæter is a talented musician from Norway. She is known for singing in the American bands Thorr's Hammer and Khlyst. Besides music, Runhild is also a professional biologist. She has a special degree called a Ph.D. in cell physiology. This means she is an expert in how cells in our bodies work.

Her Life and Music Journey
Early Days with Thorr's Hammer
Runhild Gammelsæter was 17 years old when she joined the band Thorr's Hammer. She was a foreign exchange student from Norway at the time. She joined with musicians Stephen O'Malley and Greg Anderson.
The band was together for about six weeks. In that short time, they released a demo called Sannhet i Blodet. They also recorded an EP called Dommedagsnatt. The band broke up because Runhild returned to her home city, Oslo, in Norway. Dommedagsnatt was released in 1996 by Southern Lord Records. The other four members of Thorr's Hammer later formed a new band called Burning Witch.
Forming Khlyst
In 2006, Runhild helped start another band called Khlyst. She formed it with James Plotkin and Tim Wyskida. Their album Chaos is My Name came out that same year. This album also featured two paintings done by Runhild herself.
Solo Music and Collaborations
Runhild released her first solo album, Amplicon, on June 28, 2008. It was released through Utech Records.
On December 13, 2014, she released a special album with Lasse Marhaug. He is a well-known Norwegian musician who makes noise music. Their album together was called Quantum Entanglement. They also released Higgs Boson in 2022.
Her Career as a Biologist
Runhild Gammelsæter has a Ph.D. in cell physiology. She earned this degree from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Oslo. She was also a Fulbright Scholar. This is a special scholarship that helps people study abroad. Currently, she is on the Board of Directors for a Norwegian biotechnology company called Regenics A.S.
