Rupert Miles Sanders (born 16 March 1971) is an English film director. He is known for directing popular movies like Snow White and the Huntsman (2012) and Ghost in the Shell (2017). He also directed the first episode of the science fiction TV series Foundation on Apple TV+.

Early Life
Rupert Sanders was born in Westminster, London. He is the oldest son of Thalia and Michael Sanders. His father was an eye doctor. Rupert studied graphic design at Central St Martins after a year at Kingston School of Art.
Directing Career
Early Work in Advertising
Sanders started his career making commercials. He first worked with director Tony Kaye. Rupert mostly focused on the look and design of projects, which is called art direction. Tony Kaye suggested he try directing. Sanders has directed many TV commercials. One of his ads, called The Life for the video game Halo 3: ODST, won two Golden Lions awards. These are big awards given at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival for advertising.
First Big Movies
Sanders' first major film was Snow White and the Huntsman. This movie came out in June 2012. It cost about $170 million to make and promote. On its first day in the US, it earned $20.3 million. So far, the film has made over $396 million around the world.
After that, Sanders directed a movie based on the Japanese comic book series Ghost in the Shell. Actress Scarlett Johansson starred in the main role. This film was released in March 2017. Sanders had hoped to make a sequel to Ghost in the Shell. However, the movie did not earn enough money at the box office, so plans for a second film were stopped.
Recent Projects
In 2024, Sanders directed a new movie called The Crow. This film stars Bill Skarsgård as the main character, Eric / The Crow.
Personal Life
Rupert Sanders married model Liberty Ross in 2002. She is the sister of musician Atticus Ross. They moved to Los Angeles to help Rupert's career. They have two children together, a daughter named Skyla and a son named Tennyson. Liberty Ross and Rupert Sanders divorced in 2014.
