How Rusk Got Its Name
Rusk wasn't always called Rusk! It was first named Gates. This name honored John L. Gates. He was a businessman from Milwaukee. In 1905, the community's name changed. It was renamed Rusk after Jeremiah M. Rusk. He was a very important person. Jeremiah Rusk served as the governor of Wisconsin. A governor is the leader of a state.
