Russell Hornsby is an American actor born on May 15, 1969. He is famous for playing different characters on TV and in movies. You might know him as Edward "Eddie" Sutton from Lincoln Heights, or as Detective Hank Griffin in the show Grimm. He also played Lyons in the movie Fences and Charles Flenory in the TV series BMF.

Early Life and School
Russell Hornsby was born in San Francisco, California. When he was in high school at St. Mary’s College High School, he was a good athlete. He played football and was a star in track.
One day, he tried out for a school musical called The Wiz and got the part of the Scarecrow. This made him really interested in acting and theater. He then took part in many more school plays.
After high school, Russell went to Boston University to study theater. He earned a degree in performance. He then continued his acting studies at the British American Drama Academy in Oxford, England.
Acting Career
After finishing his studies in Oxford, Russell Hornsby moved to New York City. There, he started acting in plays that were "Off Broadway." These are professional plays that are not in the very largest theaters on Broadway. He had main roles in plays like To Kill a Mockingbird and Six Degrees of Separation.
In the late 1990s, he moved to Los Angeles to act in television shows and movies. He appeared in many TV shows, including Haunted and Gideon's Crossing. He also had roles in popular shows like Grey's Anatomy and Law & Order. He even played a football player named Leon Taylor in the ESPN drama series Playmakers.
Russell has also been in several movies. Some of his film roles include After the Sunset, Big Fat Liar, and Meet the Parents. In 2000, he won two awards, a Drama Desk Award and an Obie Award, for his acting in the play Jitney.
From 2011 to 2017, he starred as Detective Hank Griffin in the fantasy drama Grimm on NBC. In 2018, he played Isaiah Butler in the Netflix crime show Seven Seconds. That same year, he joined the cast of the movie Creed II. In 2021, he began starring in the Starz crime drama BMF, where he plays Charles Flenory.
