There are many people from Russia who live in the United Kingdom. We call them Russians in the United Kingdom. There might be as many as 300,000 of them. About half of these people were born in Russia.

Some Russians in the UK are also citizens of countries like Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. These countries are called the Baltic states. Since 2004, when these countries joined the European Union (EU), their citizens could freely live and work in other EU countries, including the UK.

Russian Culture in the UK

Many Russian families want their children to stay connected to their heritage. Because of this, there are many Russian language schools in places like London and the South East of England.

Learning Russian Language and Traditions

These schools were started by Russian immigrants who moved to the United Kingdom. Parents send their children to these schools so they can learn the Russian language. They also learn about Russian culture, history, and traditions. This helps children understand where their families come from.
