Russikon is a town located in the Pfäffikon district. It is part of the Zürich area in Switzerland.

History of Russikon
Russikon was first mentioned a very long time ago, in the year 775. Back then, it was called Ruadgisinchova. Later, in 1247, its name changed slightly to Rusinchon.
Geography of Russikon
Russikon covers an area of about 14.3 square kilometers (5.5 square miles). A big part of the land, over half (51.4%), is used for farming. About 36.9% of the area is covered by forests. The rest of the land, about 11.1%, has buildings and roads. A tiny bit (0.6%) is made up of rivers or other natural areas.
In 1996, houses and other buildings took up 7.8% of the land, and roads took up 3.2%. By 2007, about 9.2% of the area was being developed with new construction.
People and Life in Russikon
Russikon has a population of 4,410 people (as of 31 December 2020). In 2007, about 10% of the people living here were from other countries. By 2008, the population was almost evenly split between males (49.5%) and females (50.5%). Over the last ten years, the number of people living in Russikon has grown by 4.2%.
Most people in Russikon (93%) speak German. Albanian is the second most common language (1.3%), followed by Italian (1.1%).

In 2000, children and teenagers (up to 19 years old) made up 27.1% of the population. Adults (20-64 years old) were 61.3%, and seniors (over 64 years old) were 11.6%.
