Fehraltorf is a town, also called a municipality, located in the Pfäffikon district. It's part of the canton of Zürich in Switzerland. It's a place where many people live and work, and it has an interesting history.

History of Fehraltorf

Fehraltorf has been known by different names over time. It was first mentioned between the years 1265 and 1287. Back then, it was called Rueggesaltorf and also Altorf de Chiburg.

Later, around 1670, people started calling it Rüeggis-Altdorff and Feer-Altdorff. These old names show how the town's name slowly changed into what we know today as Fehraltorf.

Geography and Landscape

Fehraltorf covers an area of about 9.5 square kilometers (which is about 3.7 square miles). A big part of this land, about 55.8%, is used for farming. This means there are many fields and farms around the town.

About 27.3% of the area is covered by forests, providing green spaces and natural habitats. The town itself, with its buildings and roads, takes up about 15.9% of the land. Fehraltorf is located in a valley called the upper Kempt valley. It includes the main village of Fehraltorf and a part of a smaller settlement called Mesikon. A hamlet is a very small village.

Transportation

Fehraltorf has good transportation links. The Fehraltorf railway station is a stop on the S-Bahn Zürich train line, specifically line S3. This makes it easy for people to travel to and from the town by train.
