Ryota Tsuzuki (都築 龍太, Tsuzuki Ryōta, born April 18, 1978) is a famous Japanese football player. He was a goalkeeper who played for several top clubs in Japan. He also represented the Japanese national team in international matches.
Ryota Tsuzuki was born in Heguri, Nara, Japan. He became known for his skills as a goalkeeper. He played a big role in his teams' successes, winning many important championships.

Ryota Tsuzuki's Club Career
Ryota Tsuzuki started his football journey after finishing Kunimi High School. In 1997, he joined Gamba Osaka, a team in Japan's top league, the J1 League. He made his first professional appearance in 1998.
Becoming a Top Goalkeeper
By the year 2000, Ryota Tsuzuki became Gamba Osaka's main goalkeeper. This meant he was the first choice to play in most games. He stayed with Gamba Osaka until the end of the 2002 season.
Moving to Urawa Reds
In 2003, Ryota Tsuzuki moved to Urawa Reds, another strong team. Here, he competed for the goalkeeper spot. From 2005 onwards, he was usually the main goalkeeper for Urawa Reds. He helped the team win many titles.
Winning Championships with Urawa Reds
With Urawa Reds, Tsuzuki won the J1 League championship in 2006. They also won the Emperor's Cup twice, in 2005 and 2006. The team also lifted the J.League Cup in 2003.
In international club competitions, Urawa Reds won the 2007 AFC Champions League in 2007. This is a very important tournament for Asian clubs. They also finished third in the 2007 FIFA Club World Cup that same year.
Later Career and Retirement
After 2009, Ryota Tsuzuki faced some injuries. This meant he played less often. In June 2010, he moved to Shonan Bellmare. He announced his retirement from football on January 18, 2011.

Playing for Japan's Under-23 Team
In September 2000, he was chosen for the Japan U-23 national team. This team played in the 2000 Summer Olympics. However, he did not play in any matches during the tournament.
Playing for the Senior National Team
In February 2001, Tsuzuki was called up to the main Japan national team. He played in the 2001 FIFA Confederations Cup. His first game for Japan was on April 8 against Brazil.
Japan finished second in the 2001 Confederations Cup. Even though Tsuzuki only played one game, it was a big achievement for the team. Over his career, he played 6 games for the Japanese national team until 2009.
