The History of Ry-Krisp
Early Days and New Owners
In 1926, a big company called Ralston Purina bought the Ry-Krisp factory. Ralston Purina was known for many food products. They continued to make Ry-Krisp for many years.
Later, in 1994, the food part of Ralston Purina became a new company. This new company was named Ralcorp Holdings. Ry-Krisp became part of Ralcorp. Then, in 2013, another large food company, ConAgra Foods, bought Ralcorp. This meant Ry-Krisp had a new owner again.
A Pause in Production
In January 2015, ConAgra Foods made an announcement. They said they would close the factory that made Ry-Krisp. They also said they would stop making the product. This was because fewer people were buying it.
But the story didn't end there! In April 2015, a new company called RyKrisp Inc. bought the brand. They had big plans to bring Ry-Krisp back. They wanted to find a new factory to make the crackers. They hoped to start selling them widely by October 2015. However, production did not start right away. By the fall of 2018, the crackers were still not being made. The owners said they faced some legal problems.
Legal Challenges and Future Plans
In October 2019, the owners of Ry-Krisp shared an update. They had won a legal case against a company that was supposed to make their crackers. This case was about problems with equipment and business disagreements. The court said RyKrisp, LLC should get money for damages and lost profits.
As of December 2020, the legal discussions were still continuing. The owners are working hard to solve these issues. They want to bring Ry-Krisp back to stores for everyone to enjoy.
