Ryo Nishikido (born November 3, 1984) is a famous Japanese singer and actor. He used to be part of two popular Japanese boy bands: Kanjani Eight and News. He was managed by a company called Johnny & Associates. Ryo Nishikido released his first solo music album in December 2019.

Ryo Nishikido was born in Hyogo, Japan, on November 3, 1984. He grew up in Osaka. In 1997, he joined a group of young performers called Johnny's Jr..
He officially started his career in 2004. He became an actor and a singer with the pop band News. He was also a main singer and guitarist for Kanjani Eight. This was another boy band from Johnny & Associates. Its members were from the Kansai region of Japan.
In 2006, Ryo Nishikido had his first solo concert. He also started getting big roles in popular TV shows. Some of these shows include 1 Litre of Tears and Attention Please. He won several awards for his acting in the show Last Friends. In this drama, he played a difficult character.

Ryo Nishikido first appeared in movies in 2010. He played the main character in A Boy and His Samurai. In this movie, he was a samurai from the past. He traveled to modern Japan and became a baker. He also starred in a detective show called Joker: Yurusarezaru Sōsakan. In 2011, he was in the romantic comedy Full Throttle Girl.
From 2004 to 2011, Ryo Nishikido was very busy. He was active in both News and Kanjani Eight. He released 9 music albums and went on tours with both groups. This was quite unusual for a pop idol.
In October 2011, Johnny & Associates announced something important. Ryo Nishikido would leave News. This was because it was hard for him to be in both groups at the same time.
Between 2012 and 2014, Ryo Nishikido played lead roles in many comedy-dramas. These included Papadol!, The Fortune Telling Shop, Onmyoya, and Gomen ne Seishun. He also starred in the movies Hospitality Department and I Just Wanna Hug You.
As a member of Kanjani Eight, he also hosted TV shows. One popular show was Kanjani8 no Janiben on Kansai TV. He also appeared on the famous Kōhaku music show three times. With Kanjani Eight, he was also in the action comedy movies Eight Ranger and Eight Ranger 2.
In 2018, Ryo Nishikido starred in the dark comedy The Scythian Lamb.
In March 2019, news came out that he might leave Johnny & Associates. Later, in September 2019, he officially announced his departure. He left Johnny & Associates and Kanjani Eight at the end of that month.
Personal Life
Ryo Nishikido's family includes his parents, two older brothers, and a younger sister. His father is from Amakusa, Kumamoto. His mother is from Amami, Kagoshima. Both places are in the Kyushu region of Japan.
