Ryuji Michiki (路木 龍次, Michiki Ryuji, born 25 August 1973) is a former Japanese football player. He was a talented defender and Midfielder who played for several top clubs in Japan. Michiki also proudly represented his country as part of the Japan national team.

Playing Career Highlights
Ryuji Michiki was born in Nagasaki Prefecture on August 25, 1973. He started his football journey in high school. After finishing school, he joined his first professional club, Sanfrecce Hiroshima, in 1992.
Time at Sanfrecce Hiroshima
At Sanfrecce Hiroshima, Michiki mostly played as a left side-back. This position means he played on the left side of the defense, helping to stop opponents and also joining in attacks. During his time there, the club did very well. They reached the finals of the Emperor's Cup twice, in 1995 and 1996. This is a big knockout football competition in Japan.
Moving to Other Clubs
In 1998, Michiki moved to Yokohama Marinos. However, he didn't get to play as much there. He then joined Urawa Reds in 1999, where he played more games.
Later in his career, in 2003, he briefly moved to Vissel Kobe and then to Oita Trinita. He played a total of 173 league games and scored 8 goals in his club career.

Ryuji Michiki also had an exciting career playing for his country, Japan.
1996 Summer Olympics
In July 1996, Michiki was chosen to play for the Japan U-23 national team at the 1996 Summer Olympics. He played in every single match during the tournament.
One of the most famous moments was in the first match against Brazil U-23 national team. Michiki helped set up a goal for his teammate, Teruyoshi Ito. Japan won that game 1-0, which was a huge upset! This famous victory is known as the "Miracle of Miami" in Japan.
Senior National Team
After his success at the Olympics, Michiki made his debut for the Japan national team on October 13, 1996, against Tunisia.
He was also selected for the 1996 AFC Asian Cup in December of that year. Even though he didn't play in any matches at the Asian Cup, he continued to play for Japan. He played a total of 4 games for the national team until 1997.
