São Lourenço dos Órgãos is a special area, like a county or district, in Cape Verde. It's located in the middle of Santiago Island, which is quite mountainous. The main town here is João Teves. In 2010, about 7,388 people lived here, and the area is about 36.9 square kilometers.

This area shares borders with other places. To the northeast is Santa Cruz. To the south, you'll find São Domingos. Ribeira Grande de Santiago is to the southwest, and São Salvador do Mundo is to the northwest. Pico de Antónia, the tallest mountain on Santiago Island, is partly in São Lourenço dos Órgãos.

History of São Lourenço dos Órgãos

This district was created in 2005. Before that, it was part of the older Santa Cruz district. For a few years, it was managed by a special group called the Installation Commission.

Its first leader was Victor Baessa. He was from a political party called PAICV. He led the district for eight years. Then, in the 2016 elections, another political party called MpD won.
