Samuel Robson "Rob" Walton (born October 27, 1944) is an American businessman. He is known for being the oldest son of Sam Walton, who founded Walmart. Walmart is one of the world's largest stores. Rob Walton was the chairman of Walmart from 1992 to 2015. As of May 2025, he was one of the richest people in the world. He also owns the Denver Broncos, a professional American football team.

Early Life and Family Background
Rob Walton was born on October 27, 1944, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the first of four children. His father, Sam Walton, helped start Walmart. His mother was Helen Walton. Rob has a younger brother named Jim Walton and a younger sister named Alice Walton. Another brother, John T. Walton, passed away in 2005.
Education and Early Career
Rob Walton went to the University of Arkansas. He earned a degree in business in 1966. He was also part of a group called Lambda Chi Alpha. Later, he studied law at Columbia Law School and became a lawyer in 1969. He is also a trustee at The College of Wooster.
After finishing law school, Rob worked for a law firm. This firm helped Walmart with legal matters. In 1978, he joined Walmart as a senior leader. By 1982, he became the vice chairman. On April 7, 1992, he became the chairman of Walmart's board of directors. This was just two days after his father, Sam Walton, passed away.
Helping Others and Sports Ownership
Rob Walton and his brothers and sister have given a lot of money to the Walton Family Foundation. This is a charity started by their family. Between 2008 and 2013, they donated about $2 billion to help different causes.
In 2022, Rob Walton led a group that bought the Denver Broncos. They bought the team for $4.65 billion. This was the most money ever paid for a sports team at that time. Famous people like Condoleezza Rice and Lewis Hamilton also joined his ownership group. Rob Walton's son-in-law, Greg Penner, now manages the team day-to-day.

Rob Walton has three children. One of his children is Carrie Walton Penner. He has been married three times. He married his third wife, Melani Lowman-Walton, in 2005.
