STAT: Standing Tall and Talented is a cool series of books for kids. It was written by NBA basketball star Amar'e Stoudemire. The stories are partly based on Amar'e's own life. They follow an 11-year-old Amar'e as he finds his amazing talent. He also learns to overcome many challenges to become a successful person.

Amar'e wrote these books to inspire young readers. He said he wished he had read more when he was a kid. He hopes his books will encourage a new generation to enjoy reading.

Home Court (2012): Facing Bullies

In the first book, Amar'e and his friends love playing basketball. They have their favorite court. But then, Carlos and his friends, Yeti and Ledge, take over. These bullies start beating Amar'e's team. They even mess up his dad's lawn care business. Amar'e has to learn how to stand up to them. He finds a way to teach Carlos and his group a valuable lesson. This book is dedicated to Amar'e's children and his brother.

Double Team (2012): Teamwork Challenges

Amar'e's team, with his friends Deuce and Mike, keeps winning games. But Amar'e is doing most of the scoring. Soon, his friends get jealous of him. They think he is "hogging" the ball. Deuce and Mike even try to make things "even" by not getting Amar'e a sandwich at lunch. They also try to stop him from getting the ball during games.

Their team starts to lose more games. Then, a famous basketball player invites Amar'e to another game. This new game is on the same day as his team's game! Amar'e agrees without thinking. When he tells Deuce and Mike, they get even more upset. Can Amar'e fix this tricky situation and make things right with his friends?

Slam Dunk (2013): Reaching New Heights

Eleven-year-old Amar'e is playing great basketball. But some people tease him because he can't dunk the ball. Amar'e decides to work hard with his friends. He spends a lot of time practicing to learn how to dunk. Another player, Mustafa Ismail, also tries to dunk. After a lot of effort, Amar'e finally achieves his goal by the end of the book.

Schooled (2013): Playing for the Team

Amar'e has had a lot of success playing in tournaments. He's also great at street ball. Now, it's time for him to try out for his school's basketball team. Amar'e is good enough to play with older kids. He probably should be a starter. But usually, players who have been on the team the longest get the most playing time. Amar'e must learn to help his team in new ways. He has to adapt to a different role than he's used to.

Most Valuable (2014): The Big Tournament

Amar'e looks up to a player named Overtime Tanner. Overtime Tanner plans the biggest streetball tournament every year. But one year, Overtime gets hurt during a game. He can't make all the plans for the tournament in time. Amar'e and his friends step in to help set up the event. On top of that, each of Amar'e's groups of friends wants him to play for their team. Amar'e is torn and doesn't know what to do!
