Saša Drakulić (born August 28, 1972) is a retired Serbian footballer. He played as a forward, which means he was a player who mainly tried to score goals. Saša Drakulić became very well-known in South Korea. He spent nine seasons playing in the K League, which is South Korea's top football league. He is remembered as one of the most successful foreign players in the league's history.

Football Career Highlights

Saša Drakulić started his professional football journey in 1993. He joined the famous Serbian club Red Star Belgrade.

Playing in Asia

In 1995, Saša Drakulić moved to South Korea. He joined a team called Busan Daewoo Royals. In his first year, he scored eight goals. He played for the Busan Daewoo Royals until 1998.

Later in 1998, he moved to another strong Korean team, Suwon Samsung Bluewings. With the Bluewings, he helped them win the K-League Championship two times in a row, in 1998 and 1999. After this success, he briefly moved to Japan in 2000 to play for Kashiwa Reysol. However, he soon returned to Suwon Samsung Bluewings later that year.

In 2001, Saša Drakulić joined Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma. He continued his winning streak there. He won three more K-League Championships with Seongnam from 2001 to 2003. After these great years, he left the K-League and played for AEK Larnaca in Cyprus.

During his nine years in the K League, Saša Drakulić scored a total of 104 goals. He played in 271 matches (including regular season games and League Cup matches). At that time, he was the second-highest scorer in the league's history. He also holds the record for the most shots on goal, with 941 attempts.

Coming Back Home

In 2005, Saša Drakulić returned to play in Serbia. He joined Vojvodina. After that, he played for several other clubs in Serbia, including ČSK Čelarevo and Mladost Apatin.

He returned to Vojvodina in 2007. He even played in a UEFA Cup game, which is a big European club competition. Unfortunately, his contract with Vojvodina ended in December 2007. This happened after he got a knee injury while playing in an indoor football tournament without his club's permission.
