History of Sabana Hoyos
Sabana Hoyos has an interesting past. After the Spanish–American War, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened under the rules of the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became a territory of the United States.
In 1899, the United States government took a count of all the people in Puerto Rico. This count, called a census, found that 3,568 people lived in Sabana Hoyos barrio at that time. The population has grown a lot since then!
