History of Sabanilla
How Sabanilla Started
Sabanilla was created in 1771. About 150 people from nearby villages, Moyos and Tila, moved there to start a new settlement.
They wrote a letter to the Spanish King, Carlos III, asking for permission to create the town. The only person who could write, Matheo Diaz, signed the letter. The local priest from Moyos also agreed to the new settlement.
