Saddlebag Lake Resort is a special community located near Lake Wales, Florida. It's in Polk County. This place is known as a "snowbird" community. This means many people from colder places, especially Canada, come here to stay during the winter months.

The number of people living here changes throughout the year. About 200 people live here all the time. But during the winter, the population grows to around 1,350. There are 787 homesites in the resort. It is about 9 miles west of Lake Wales.

History of Saddlebag Lake Resort

Saddlebag Lake Resort was started in 1973. Two brothers were looking for a lake to fish in during the summer. They ended up buying over 100 acres of land from the state.

From Campground to Community

The brothers first created a campground. They sold spots for campers to stay. Later, in 1994, these camping spots were approved for manufactured homes. Manufactured homes are houses built in a factory and then moved to a site. By 2015, most of the developed areas had these types of homes.

Saddlebag Lake Resort has many fun things for people to do. It has a clubhouse where people can gather. There's also a billiards room for games. You can find a swimming pool, tennis courts, and a horseshoe pit. For golf lovers, there's a driving range. Plus, there's a boat dock for those who enjoy being on the water.
