Sagamore Farm is a famous Thoroughbred horse farm in Reisterstown, Maryland, in the United States. It was started in 1925. The farm is known for raising and training some of the best racehorses.
The farm was first owned by Isaac Edward Emerson. He gave it to his daughter, Margaret. Later, Margaret gave the farm to her son, Alfred G. Vanderbilt II, for his 21st birthday. Alfred Vanderbilt came from a very rich family in New York. He loved horse racing and became the owner of Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore. He also led other important horse racing groups.

A Home for Champions
Sagamore Farm became a special place for top racehorses. Alfred Vanderbilt helped bring many famous horses to the farm.
Famous Horses at Sagamore
- In 1938, Vanderbilt helped arrange a very famous race. It was between two legendary horses, Seabiscuit and War Admiral, at Pimlico.
- In 1941, Vanderbilt and other horse lovers bought a horse named Bahram. Bahram had won the English Triple Crown in 1935. He came to Sagamore Farm to be a breeding horse.
- In 1966, Vanderbilt was part of a group that bought Kauai King. This horse had won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. Kauai King also came to Sagamore Farm for breeding.

Some of the most famous horses from Sagamore Farm are now in the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame.

New Beginnings for the Farm
Alfred Vanderbilt sold Sagamore Farm in 1986. Years later, in 2007, a Maryland native named Kevin Plank bought the farm. Kevin Plank is the CEO of the sports clothing company, Under Armour. He wanted to bring the farm back to its former glory.
Farm Restoration
Kevin Plank started a big project to fix up the farm. An expert in horse farm design, John Blackburn, is helping with the work. The farm has a historic barn with 90 stalls for horses. It even has a quarter-mile track inside the barn for training!
Recent Successes
Sagamore Farm continued to have success in racing.
- On November 5, 2010, a female racehorse from Sagamore Farm won a big race. Her name was Shared Account. She won the $2 million Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf race. She beat Midday, who was one of the best horses in the world.
A New Direction
On November 5, 2020, Sagamore Farm announced a new plan. They decided to stop breeding and training racehorses. Instead, they now grow grains on the farm. These grains are used to make Sagamore Spirit whiskey. This whiskey already uses special spring water from Sagamore Farm.
