Saginaw is a small village, covering an area of about 2.14 square kilometers (0.83 square miles). All of this area is land, meaning there are no large lakes or rivers within the village limits.

The land around Saginaw features rolling hills and bluffs. You'll find forests filled with Ozark hickory and oak trees, which are common in this part of Missouri. A stream called Shoal Creek flows along the southern edge of the village. A Look Back at Saginaw's History
Saginaw wasn't always called Saginaw! It was first known as Thurman. This name came from a local store owner, Mr. Thurman.
How Saginaw Got Its Name
A post office opened in Thurman in 1873. Later, in 1889, the name of the village was changed to Saginaw. The new name was inspired by Saginaw, Michigan, a city far away in another state.
