Where is Saint-Georges-du-Bois?
Saint-Georges-du-Bois is about 8 kilometers (5 miles) southwest of the city of Le Mans. It is also about 192 kilometers (119 miles) southwest of Paris. You can reach Paris in about 55 minutes by a fast train called the TGV Atlantique.
The town has a county road, number 309, that connects Le Mans to Sablé-sur-Sarthe. A short drive away, the A11 highway (Le Mans Sud exit) makes it easy to get to other big cities in western France. These cities include Angers, Nantes, Tours, and Rennes. The area also has a small stream called the Orne Champagne.
How Many People Live Here?
In 2006, Saint-Georges-du-Bois had 1,781 people living there. The people who live in the town are called 'Boisgeorgiens'. For a long time, until the mid-1960s, the population stayed small, with fewer than 500 residents. In 1956, a new drinking water system was built. This helped the town grow and allowed many new homes to be built.
