Saint-Hilaire-le-Lierru was once a small town (called a commune) located in western France. It was part of the Pays de la Loire region and the Sarthe department. This area is about 70 to 120 meters above sea level. On January 1, 2016, Saint-Hilaire-le-Lierru joined with another town to form a new, larger commune called Tuffé-Val-de-la-Chéronne.

Population Changes
The number of people living in Saint-Hilaire-le-Lierru changed over the years. In the 1960s, there were around 174 residents. The population slowly went down, reaching its lowest point in the 1980s with about 91 people. After that, the number of residents started to grow again, reaching 137 by 2006.

Saint-Hilaire-le-Lierru has a few interesting old buildings that show its history.
The Mansion of Horn
This beautiful old house was built a long time ago, between 1524 and 1557. It was constructed by a person named Marin le Voyer. Today, it is a private home.
House of Heart
This house got its special name because of a heart shape carved into its front. It was built in the 1500s. The House of Heart is not open to visitors.
Parish Church
The church in Saint-Hilaire-le-Lierru is very old. It was first mentioned in writings between the years 1080 and 1100. At that time, it was part of the Church of Saint-Vincent du Mans.
