Sakori (also spelled Sakuri) is a small village in India. It is located in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra State. The village is about 5 kilometers (3 miles) south of a town called Shirdi.
Sakori is famous because it was the home of a spiritual teacher named Upasni Maharaj. He had a special spiritual center there called an ashram, known as Kanya Kumari Sthan.

Sakori became well-known because of two important spiritual leaders. These leaders spent time living and teaching in the village.
Upasni Maharaj
Upasni Maharaj (1870–1941) was a respected spiritual teacher. He lived in Shirdi for four years. During that time, he was a student, or disciple, of another famous teacher, Sai Baba of Shirdi.
In July 1917, Upasni Maharaj started his own spiritual center, an ashram, in Sakori. He lived and taught there until he passed away in 1941.
Meher Baba
Another spiritual leader, Meher Baba, also had a strong connection to Sakori. He was a student of Upasni Maharaj for seven years. This learning period, called discipleship, started in 1915.
Meher Baba continued his studies with Upasni Maharaj in Sakori from 1917 to 1922. It was in Sakori that Meher Baba began his own spiritual journey.
