Salem Lakes is a village in Kenosha County, Wisconsin, United States. It used to be known as the town of Salem and the village of Silver Lake.
This village was formed on February 14, 2017, when several communities joined together. In 2020, about 14,601 people lived here. Many smaller communities are part of Salem Lakes, including Benet Lake, Camp Lake, Trevor, and Wilmot.

History of Salem Lakes
Early Settlers and Development
In June 1837, a person named John Dodge was the first settler in the area known as Salem. Soon after, General Bullen and David Bullen also settled there. They chose a spot on the east bank of the Fox River.
They planned a village, hoping it would become a major point for boats on the Fox River. A bridge was built over the river and was called "Bullen's Bridge."
How Salem Lakes Became a Village
On February 14, 2017, Salem Lakes officially became a village. This new village included the former village of Silver Lake. It also brought together the communities of Trevor, Wilmot, and Camp Lake.

Salem Lakes covers a total area of about 32.4 square miles (83.9 square kilometers). Most of this area is land. About 29.7 square miles (76.9 square kilometers) is land.
The rest is water. About 2.7 square miles (7.0 square kilometers) of Salem Lakes is covered by water. This means about 8.34% of the village is water.

In the year 2000, before the village merger, about 9,871 people lived in the town of Salem. There were 3,529 households, which are groups of people living together. Most of these were families.
The population density was about 332.5 people per square mile. This means many people lived in each square mile of land.
