Sallis is a small town located in Attala County, Mississippi, in the United States. In 2010, about 134 people lived there. By 2020, the population was 131.

History of Sallis

Sallis was started in 1874. It was named after Dr. James D. Sallis, who used to own the land where the town now stands.

By 1906, Sallis had grown quite a bit. It had its own post office, a school for children, a steam-powered mill for grinding grain, and several churches. At that time, around 850 people were thought to live in Sallis.

The town was built along a railroad line that is no longer used today. This was the Illinois Central Railroad, and Sallis even had its own train station.

Today, the Mayor of Sallis is Luke Eaton. The mayor is the main leader of the town's government.
