Salt Lick is a small city in Bath County, Kentucky, in the United States. It is known as a "home rule-class city," which means it has its own local government rules. In 2020, about 247 people lived there.
History of Salt Lick
The area where Salt Lick is now was first called Vail. This was in 1882 when the first post office opened.
The town was planned out and given a new name in 1884. It was renamed "Salt Lick" because of the natural salt licks nearby. Animals would visit these spots to lick the salty ground. The city officially became a town in 1888.

Salt Lick is located where two main roads meet: US 60 and KY 211. It sits right next to the Licking River.
The city is part of the Mount Sterling micropolitan area. This means it's a smaller city that is closely connected to a larger town, Mount Sterling, for jobs and services. The city covers about 2.0 square kilometers (0.79 square miles) of land. Only a tiny part of it, about 0.02 square kilometers, is water.
