Salvador Sánchez Barbudo was born in a city called Jerez de la Frontera in Spain. He started learning to paint in Spanish cities like Seville and Madrid.

Later, he moved to Rome, Italy. A kind person named D. José Juan Fernández de Villavicencio, who was a Marquis, helped him financially. In Rome, Salvador met and worked with another famous painter, José Villegas Cordero. He also joined a group of Spanish artists, including Vincente Poveda.

What He Painted

Salvador Sánchez Barbudo mostly painted scenes from history or from different time periods. One of his famous paintings shows a scene from the play Hamlet. This painting won an award at the Exposition of Fine Arts in Madrid in 1886.
