Salzland is a special area in the middle of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It's like a county or a region that groups several towns and villages together. The main city and capital of Salzland is Bernburg.
How Salzland Was Formed
The Salzland district is quite new! It was created in 2007. Before that, this area was made up of three smaller districts: Bernburg, Schönebeck, and most of Aschersleben-Staßfurt. They all joined together to form the bigger Salzland district. This change helped to organize the region better.
Towns and Communities in Salzland
The Salzland district has many different towns and smaller communities. Some of these are called "free towns" or "free municipalities." This means they manage their own local affairs.
Some of the important towns in Salzland are:

- Egeln
- Barby
