Sambre facts for kids
The Sambre is a river that flows through two countries: France and Belgium. It is about 193 kilometers (120 miles) long. The Sambre joins the Meuse River in the city of Namur, Belgium. It flows into the Meuse from the left side.
Where the Sambre River Starts
The Sambre river begins in France, in a place called Fontenelle. This area is part of the Hauts-de-France region. The river starts at an altitude of 210 meters (689 feet) above sea level.
Journey Through Belgium
After starting in France, the Sambre river flows into Belgium. It travels through two important Belgian provinces. These are Hainaut and Namur. The river passes by the city of Charleroi, which is a well-known city in Belgium.
