Samir de los Caños is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the province of Zamora in Castile and León, Spain. In 2004, about 227 people lived there. By 2022, the population was around 163 residents.

A Look Back: The History of Samir de los Caños
How Provinces Were Formed
In 1833, Spain created its current provinces. Samir de los Caños became part of the Zamora province. This province was part of the Region of León. At that time, these regions did not have their own administrative powers.
Changes in Judicial Districts
A year later, Samir de los Caños joined the Judicial District of Alcañices. A judicial district is an area where a specific court handles legal cases. This arrangement lasted until 1983. Then, the Alcañices district was closed. Samir de los Caños became part of the Judicial District of Zamora .
Becoming Part of an Autonomous Community
After Spain's 1978 constitution was approved, big changes happened. In 1983, Samir de los Caños became part of the autonomous community of Castilla y León. An autonomous community is like a large region in Spain that has its own government and powers. Samir de los Caños remained a municipality within the province of Zamora.
