Samson Kitur (born February 25, 1966 – died April 25, 2003) was a famous Kenyan athlete. He was a talented runner who won an Olympic medal in 1992.

Early Life and Running Focus
Samson Kitur was a special athlete from Kenya. Many Kenyan runners are known for long-distance races, like 800 meters or more. But Samson was different. He chose to focus on the 400 metres race, which is a sprint around one lap of the track.
Olympic and World Success
Samson had a very successful career. In 1991, he won the top championship for Africa in the 400m race. The next year, he went to the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. There, he won a bronze medal in the 400m race. The winner of that race was Quincy Watts.
A year later, in 1993, Samson earned another bronze medal. This was at the World Championships held in Stuttgart. He also won a silver medal in the 4x400 meter relay race at the same event. Samson continued his success by winning two more gold medals at the All-Africa Games in 1991 and 1995.
Family of Athletes
Samson Kitur came from a family of talented runners. Two of his brothers were also Olympic athletes. They were Simon Kitur and David Kitur.
Samson sadly passed away suddenly in 2003 at the age of 37. He died at his home in Eldoret, Kenya.
