Samuel Adewunmi (born in 1994) is a British actor. He is known for his roles in movies and TV shows. Sam won an award for "Most Promising Newcomer" at the British Independent Film Awards in 2019. This was for his part in the movie The Last Tree. He was also nominated for "Best Actor" for the same film. Later, he was nominated for a BAFTA award for his role in the BBC show You Don't Know Me in 2021. In 2019, he was called a "Star of Tomorrow" by Screen International magazine.

Early Life and Acting Start
Sam Adewunmi was born in Camden, London, England. His mother is Nigerian Yoruba and works as a chef. Sam and his brother grew up in the Maiden Lane Estate. This is near the King's Cross and St Pancras train stations.
Sam first found his love for acting in school. He was in a play when he was in year three (around 8 years old). At the age of eight, he even put on a play for his community. He later studied acting at the Identity School of Acting.

Sam Adewunmi started his acting career in 2014. He has been in many different TV shows and films since then.
Early Roles
In 2016, Sam played Benedict in the web series Dixi for CBBC Online. His first movie role was Isaac in the crime film The Hatton Garden Job in 2017. He also appeared in an episode of Doctor Who called "The Eaters of Light".
Breakthrough with The Last Tree
Sam played the main character, Femi, in the 2019 film The Last Tree. This movie was shown at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. After this, he became very well-known.
For his role in The Last Tree, Sam won the "Most Promising Newcomer" award at the British Independent Film Awards. He was also nominated for "Best Actor". He received two more nominations at the National Film Awards UK.
Recent TV Shows and Stage Work
In 2020, Sam starred as Carcer Dun in The Watch. This show was based on books by Terry Pratchett. He also appeared in a short film called Tin Luck.
In 2021, Sam was in the ITV thriller Angela Black. He then played the main role of Hero in the BBC One show You Don't Know Me. For this role, he was nominated for a BAFTA award for Best Actor.
Sam also started acting on stage. In 2023, he performed in Trouble in Butetown at the Donmar Warehouse. In 2024, he made his first appearance in London's West End in the play A Mirror at the Trafalgar Theatre.
