Samuel Hayes (born 1641 – died April 7, 1712) was an important early settler in Norwalk, Connecticut. He helped shape the new community. Samuel Hayes also served as a leader in the government of the Colony of Connecticut.

Family Life
Samuel Hayes came from a family deeply rooted in the colony. His father was Nathaniel Hayes, born in 1614. Samuel also had a brother named Nathaniel Hayes. This brother was one of the very first settlers of Norwalk.
In 1672, Samuel Hayes married Elizabeth Moore. She was the daughter of another early settler, Isaac Moore. Together, Samuel and Elizabeth had several children. Their children included Sarah Hayes Seymour, Ruth Hayes Belding, Ann Hayes, and Isaac Hayes.
Samuel Hayes passed away on April 7, 1712, in Norwalk, Connecticut. He was buried in the East Norwalk Historical Cemetery. His life shows the dedication of early settlers who built new communities.
